We turn official information into something a person can actually use.

Our goal

Make important systems easier to understand.

GuideHealth helps newcomers and families understand Canadian systems and take practical next steps with confidence.

Who GuideHealth is for

Newcomers, refugees, international students, families, settlement workers, community organizations and anyone who finds government information difficult to navigate.

What GuideHealth does

We provide plain language information, downloadable guides, healthcare navigation, physician directories and direct links to official services.

What GuideHealth does not do

We do not provide a diagnosis, replace a doctor, give legal advice, guarantee access to a provider or make immigration decisions.

Why we exist

Good information, badly explained, helps no one.

When you arrive in a new country you are asked to understand health insurance, tenancy law, employment standards and a winter you may never have experienced, all in your first few months, and usually in a second or third language.

GuideHealth exists to shorten that learning curve. We read the provincial and federal sources, then rewrite what they say in short sentences with the phone numbers, deadlines and warnings that matter most.

We are an information service. We do not give legal or medical advice, and we do not collect personal information from readers.

The authors

Who writes the guidebooks.

Portrait of Raheen Fatima

Raheen Fatima

Raheen is a first generation Canadian immigrant and an environmental author whose work focuses on the meeting point of climate action and human wellbeing. She writes to make information clear and supportive, especially for people navigating new systems, because informed people are better able to care for themselves, their communities and the planet.

Portrait of Inaam Chattha

Inaam Chattha

Inaam grew up as an immigrant in a remote Alberta town and saw early how climate, mental health and access to resources are connected. He founded Green Mind Canada to give young people space to talk about climate anxiety, and he has written three children books that help kids understand climate emotions. He is an Ocean Wise ambassador.

Portrait of Ahmad Chattha

Ahmad Chattha

Ahmad Chattha is a children’s author and illustrator who uses storytelling to help young people understand climate change through themes of hope, resilience, and community. He is also interested in the social determinants of health, health equity, and how environmental and social conditions shape the well being of communities.

Portrait of Jashan Gill

Jashan Gill

Supporting his grandmother as she navigated care while losing her sight and memory showed Jashan how much of health happens outside a doctor's office, through language, culture, and the pressures faced by people delivering care. He works to make GuideHealth a single place where people navigating Canadian healthcare systems can find what they need.
